During 2022, Solent Packing were tasked with designing a bespoke packaging solution to transport two very large Satellite dishes from Hampshire to Israel. These dishes have a diameter of 3.7 metres but are very delicate & fragile having been expertly spun by our Havant customer – Metspin Ltd.
The Dishes were received into Solent Packing late in 2022 and we got straight to work designing and testing our solutions to find the most reliable, safe & cost-efficient method of transporting these dishes.
The dishes (pictured above) came to us in two halves straight from the spray shop, ready for us to pack and make safe for the onward sea fright to Israel. To keep the case footprint to a minimum the obvious solution was to stand these half domes on the flat centre edge, one inside the other, with bracing to ensure there was no movement within the case and the domes will not move or make contact with each other. Even with our space saving design, This was still a very big case!
Once we were happy with the concept we got to work constructing the shell of the case and began packing the first two dish halves.
A few days after our Christmas break the second dish arrived which was then packed in the same way with bracing to secure each unit in place.
Once we were happy that all sections were firmly braced & secured the case was closed for transport.
Tiltwatch indicators were added and the case was loaded onto the customers vehicle to commence its journey to Israel. We hope to see many more of these consignments during 2023.
